Three new shows open at the New Zone this month.
Sheri Smith & Dean Jordan — Art From Nature (Part 2)
Two people inspired by the natural world around them: Dean focuses on bringing out the beauty of the wood, and Sheri performs her magic onto the forms using weavings in natural fibers and gems. The result is the best of both worlds.
Meridith McClure — Threads of Pacific Northwest Nature
Meridith McClure is an embroidery artist who draws on her background in biology and ecology to craft hand-embroidered art. Much of her subject matter focuses on plants, fungi, and wildlife native to the Pacific Northwest to help excite and educate folks about the natural world.
The Pacific Rim Art Guild — The Beautiful Oregon Coast
With featured artists Cheri Turk and Sandi Grubbs. Watercolors, oil paintings, and photography of Oregon’s waves, rocks, and sandy beaches, plus the coast’s sea life — seagulls, pelicans, sea lions, and seals. Three-dimensional relief work brings starfish, sea anemones, and other patterns from the rocks and sea to life.
Live music provided by David Doherty.
This month the New Zone welcomes Alesong Brewing & Blending, generously donating and pouring samples on First Friday. Alesong is an intentionally small artisan brewery, winery, and cidery in the Southern Willamette Valley, known for barrel-aged beers that range from tart and fruity to rich and malty. Stop in, see the new work on the walls, and taste something made just down the road.
Libations also generously donated by Sundance Cellars, with food generously donated by Papa John’s and Voodoo Doughnut. Come hungry and stay a while.
